AK-47

The AK-47 is a selective fire ( automatic and semi ) gas operated, 7.62x39mm caliber, assault rifle , first engineered in the USSR. It has a 30 round magazine and is most effective up to 300 meters solo fire. The AK-47 weighs around 5kg's fully loaded. The standard AK-47 fires at a rate of 1200 fps(feet per second). It is gas operated with a rotating bolt and can fire up to 600 rounds per minute. The bolt , which is part of the firing mechanism, does not lock at the rear when the magazine is empty so it's important to make sure it's empty before attempting to walk in front of it. The Ak-47 was designed during the second world war as a sort of hybrid assault rifle in comparison to it's ancestor the M1 Garand /M1 carbine.

Few fun facts about the AK.

1. The AK-47 can be stripped in under one minute and cleaned very quickly. Even if the AK-47 is not cleaned, its still more likely to fire then any of it's rivals given similar treatment on the battlefield. The AK-47 can be operated for years without cleaning. It only consists of 8 moving parts and is not very expensive to make . The AK-47 is so convenient to operate that even a child can be taught how to properly operate it in one hour.

2. There is more then 75 million AK-47  being used in the world today .

3.It is estimated that the total death toll from AK-47 is around 7 -10 million people.
